Schneck Medical Center agreed to a $1.3 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it failed to prevent a 2021 data breach and provide compensation for those affected.
Plaintiffs in the data breach class action lawsuits claim Jackson County’s Schneck Medical Center failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures that would have prevented a September 2021 data breach. As a result, hackers allegedly accessed patient names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, protected health information, health insurance information and other sensitive data.
Schneck Medical Center is a hospital in Seymour, Indiana, that serves Jackson, Jennings, Scott and Washington counties.
Schneck Medical Center hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $1.3 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
