Cornell University agreed to a $3 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming that it overcharged students for tuition during the spring 2020 semester after it moved to online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
According to plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit, Cornell University charged them inflated tuition fees for the spring 2020 semester even though on-campus classes were transitioned online due to COVID-19 restrictions. The students say they didn’t receive the full benefit of their on-campus tuition but were not refunded these excessive fees.
Cornell is a private university in Ithaca, New York, with 15,735 undergraduate students and 10,163 graduate students.
Cornell hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $3 million settlement to resolve the tuition class action lawsuit.
