Apple agreed to a $1.8 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it misrepresented the security and value of its gift cards that were later redeemed by unauthorized third parties.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Apple failed to secure its gift cards, causing consumers to lose the value of these cards when unauthorized third parties redeemed them before the authorized customer was able to. Consumers argue that Apple misrepresented the value and security of its gift cards by failing to warn customers that their gift cards could be stolen.
Apple gift cards can be used to purchase Apple products, apps, music and other products through Apple’s various online stores.
Apple hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $1.8 million settlement to resolve the gift card class action lawsuit.
