Woopla agreed to a $835,000 settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming that it violated state laws by selling virtual currency on its Funzpoints website.
According to the class action lawsuit, Woopla violated Kentucky’s gambling laws by selling in-game currency on funzpoints.com. This currency allegedly allowed gamers to gamble using real money despite the website not being authorized under state law.
Woopla is a social gaming developer that creates online websites such as funzpoints.com which allow consumers to play games with each other.
Woopla hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to resolve the class action lawsuit with a $835,000 settlement.
