First American Title Insurance Class Action LawsuitIf you are a class member of the First American Title Insurance Class Action Lawsuit then you are eligible for a potential award from the First American Title Insurance Class Action Lawsuit! The settlement includes two different classes. The Settlement Class is a composed of certain individuals who purchased the title insurance from one of 25 the above-listed title agencies between June 12, 2006 and May 11, 2016 and the Tower City Class is a compromise of certain individuals who purchased title insurance from Tower City Title Agency between June 12, 2006, and November 9, 2006. According to the lawsuit, First American Title Insurance Company, and First American Financial Corporation unlawfully paid referral fees to title insurance underwriting businesses compensating them for acquiring an ownership interest in title insurance agencies. First American defendants violated the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act by purchasing an ownership interest in title insurance agencies and obtaining agreements from the agencies to refer title insurance business exclusively to First America. Although First American denied that act of wrongdoings, they have agreed to settle the class-action lawsuit in order to avoid the further risk and cost of ongoing litigation. How to File a Claim:

  1. Head on over to the First American Title Insurance Claim Form.
  2. Read over the claim form to see if you qualify.
  3. Fill out the claim form by providing your information. (Name, Address, Phone Number, Email, Etc.)
  4. Submit your claim by 11/18/16 to receive your potential award!

For all individuals who purchased title insurance from one of 25 the above-listed agencies between June 12, 2006 and May 11, 2016, or for certain individuals who purchased title insurance from Tower City Title Agency LCC between June 12, 2006 and Nove. 2006, you are eligible for a potential award from the First American Title Insurance Claim Form. According to the lawsuit, First American Title violated the RESPA’s ban on giving “any fees, kickback, or thing of value” in exchange for referrals of title insurance business in a mortgage loan transaction. Although First American Title denies all acts of wrongdoings, they have agreed to settle the class-action lawsuit in order to avoid the further risk and cost of ongoing litigation.
