To any cardholder that tried to but was unable to use their Green Dot-issued MasterCard-processed cards to access their account funds between May 15, 2016 and May 22, 2016 because of the service disruption, you may be eligible for a potential award from the Green Dot Prepaid Card Class Action Lawsuit! According to the lawsuit, there was a service disruption from May 15, 2016 through May 22, 2016 on Green Dot prepaid debit cards and Walmart MoneyCards issued by Green Dot that denied consumers access to their accounts. Which in turn made them unable to spend or withdraw funds from their respective Green Dot accounts needed for basic necessities of life, such as food, clothing, and shelter. The defendants deny the allegations, but have agreed to settle the class action lawsuit in order to avoid the further risk and cost of litigation.
